Synopsis
Ever wonder why one diet works for one person,
but not for another? After decades of research, Dr. Peter D'Adamo has discovered the role
one's blood type plays in determining which foods are best for an individual's diet.
"Eat Right 4 Your Type" teaches readers how to optimize their types to achieve
the greatest state of health and well-being. A. Orca's comments: I found this book
interesting, although the research isn't all that solid. I didn't like what it
said people with my bloodtype needed to eat, so I never really gave it a try. It
failed my personal test for me-ability.
From The Publisher:
Dr. D'Adamo has spent the past fifteen years researching the connections among blood type,
food, and disease, and his research is built on thirty years of work done by his father.
Now Dr. D'Adamo offers a total resource for health, an individualized plan that's right
for your blood type. In "Eat Right 4 Your Type" he shows which foods, spices,
teas, and condiments help someone of your blood type maintain optimal health and ideal
weight; which vitamins and supplements to emphasize or avoid; which medications function
best in your system; whether your stress goes to your muscles or your nervous system;
whether your stress is relieved better through aerobics or meditation; whether you should
walk, swim or play tennis or golf as your mode of exercise; how knowing your blood type
can help you avoid many common viruses and infections; how knowing your blood type can
help you fight back against life-threatening diseases; and how to slow down the aging
process by avoiding factors specific to your blood type that cause rapid cell
deterioration. |

Childers, whose bestselling video tapes are sold via the Home Shopping Network and QVC. 40
color illustrations. 20 photos. A. Orca's
Comments: This is a quick read, and a persuasive arguements. It makes the
mistake (in one of the later chapters) of claiming anyone can lose inches and sizes if
they follow the plan, which focusses on exercises with deep breathing techniques. I
had an awful time just trying to follow the deep breathing exercises, though they sounded
easy enough. Try getting it from the library before investing in it. |

Synopsis From the
Publisher:
We live in an appearance-obsessed culture. Fashion ads, magazine covers, TV shows, and
movies idealize a body type that is impossible for most real women to achieve. In this
comforting, liberating book, Dr. Mary Pipher, bestselling author of Reviving Ophelia,
offers advice, counsel, and practical solutions for understanding our needs, our fears,
and our many hungers. She shows us how we can at last learn to live at peace with the
natural differences in our bodies and appetites. The rates of anorexia, bulimia, and
depression for women are the highest they have ever been, and begin at ever younger ages.
Dr. Pipher reveals how society encourages our misery and prevents us from accepting our
looks. Indeed, for many women the humiliation of overweight or obesity is a wound that
never heals. Dr. Pipher reminds us that accepting our bodies the way they are is the
greatest gift we can give ourselves. |
